Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger to be honored at public reception Dec. 22

Sandy Praeger, retiring Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, will be honored at a public reception from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 22, at the Kansas Insurance Department, 420 SW 9th Street, Topeka.

Four directors to retire from insurance department

Sandy Praeger, Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, today announced the retirement of four of her division directors. Leaving the office December 5 will be Marlyn Burch life division; Neil Woerman, information technology; Steve O'Neil, consumer assistance; and Ted Clark, anti-fraud.

Zachary J.C. Anshutz, assistant commissioner, will be leaving his post at the Kansas Insurance Department to accept a position with Advisors Excel LLC, a Topeka-based independent insurance marketing organization.

Vehicle insurance fraud case supported with KID assistance

Thanks to assistance from the Kansas Insurance Department (KID) Anti-Fraud and Legal Divisions, a Garden City man was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution for insurance fraud involving wrecked vehicles.

Insurance Department will allow companies to extend current policies under new HHS rules

Sandy Praeger, Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, announced today that the Kansas Insurance Department will allow companies selling health insurance in the state to continue to renew policies that don’t meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that went into effect on January 1, 2014.

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger today warned Kansas seniors that legislation being considered by state lawmakers would place federal funding for all health care services and health plans under the control of the state legislature and governor.
